Robert Half Management Resources is looking for an experienced Sr. IT Financial Analyst to help one of our clients on an interim basis. This Long-term Contract position is centered on maintaining strong financial controls, accurate accounting treatment, and reliable reporting across IT spending and project activity. The role partners closely with technology leaders, accounting teams, and project stakeholders to ensure expenses, capital investments, and asset records are captured correctly in a regulated environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial tracking for technology initiatives, ensuring labor, expenses, and project costs are recorded accurately and aligned with accounting policies.
- Prepare recurring analyses for capitalized labor and review allocations to confirm eligible time and project activity are properly classified.
- Examine IT invoices and purchasing-related documentation, then assign correct general ledger coding, cost centers, and capital or operating expense treatment.
- Coordinate with accounts payable, project owners, and other stakeholders to resolve discrepancies, correct coding issues, and support timely payment processing.
- Develop and maintain accruals for goods and services received but not yet invoiced, supporting monthly and quarterly close activities.
- Reconcile information across financial systems, project records, and ledger data to identify inconsistencies and produce dependable reporting.
- Monitor technology assets from active project status through in-service placement, partnering with project teams to validate timing for capitalization and retirement activity.
- Produce project financial reports that compare actual spending with budgets and forecasts, and investigate notable variances for leadership review.
- Carry out internal control procedures, assemble audit support materials, and research unusual transactions to strengthen compliance over technology spend.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; an Accounting-focused background is strongly preferred.
- 3–7 years of experience in project accounting, IT finance, financial controls, or corporate accounting.
- Strong knowledge of accrual accounting, fixed assets, capitalization practices, and the distinction between capital and operating expenditures.
- Experience working within a public-company or highly controlled financial environment with exposure to internal control and audit support requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex reconciliations, lookups, PivotTables, and variance analysis.
- Ability to analyze project spend, investigate exceptions, and communicate findings clearly to finance and operational stakeholders.
- Familiarity with enterprise financial systems and reporting tools; experience with PeopleSoft or OneStream is preferred.
- Exposure to Workday Financial Management, or the ability to learn and adapt quickly to similar platforms, is a plus.
