Our approach

Clear jobs. Clear sources.

MovoJobs helps you explore jobs across the United States and apply through the source listing. Here is how we decide what to show.

Where the jobs come from

Our catalogue includes listings from employer recruiting systems and job boards. We prefer the employer recruiting system when the source identifies a duplicate. Identical source links appear once. Two roles with the same title are not automatically the same job.

We store the original source fields separately from extracted details. A summary can help you scan a job, but the full description and application page are the references for the employer’s requirements. Report a job if something looks wrong.

What “open” means

The source has not marked the job closed. A past closing date alone does not remove a listing, since employers can extend their deadlines. We apply source updates and closure feeds to the catalogue. A refresh time means we processed source data, not that we contacted the employer or checked the application page ourselves. Check the application page for availability.

Places and remote work

City and town pages start with physical workplaces within 25 miles of the selected place, in the United States. You can change the distance, including to 20 miles. Nearby workplaces across city, town and state borders are included. State pages cover the whole state. This is straight-line distance, not driving distance. Place coordinates are approximate, so this is not an exact distance from your home. A job with several workplaces counts once in a collection.

Our place directory uses the 2021 Census: all 429 municipalities and equivalent areas above 10,000 people, with extra named communities from population centres, plus every territorial capital. These geographies overlap, so their counts and populations must not be added together. The 484 directory locations use Statistics the United States and GeoNames place coordinates. Population figures describe 2021, not today. Smaller places remain available in search. Location sources.

Remote jobs are shown only when the source explicitly names the United States as an allowed applicant country. An employer’s office address or an extracted guess is not enough. A remote job may still have state, time zone or other requirements in its description.

Listing language

Search and browse pages start with English listings. Choose French or All languages in the filters. An ad with substantial English and French descriptions can appear in both searches and still counts as one job. An English ad may require French skills, so always read the requirements.

We detect language from the original description, not an English summary or a short legal footer. Detection can make mistakes. Listings with uncertain language remain available under All languages. We keep the original description in full. Employer profiles show their openings in all languages.

For bilingual listings, we show the section in this site’s language first when we can identify it. You can always open the full bilingual original. We do not translate the employer’s description.

Search and job roles

Our role directory covers all 900 US OaSIS 2025 occupation profiles, with reviewed names and extra roles for familiar searches. English and French titles work in search. We use the US NOC 2021 classification as a reference and O*NET alternative titles to help review aliases.

Newest jobs follows when we first added a job to our catalogue. Importing an older listing can place it near the top. Routine updates do not make a job new again. The Added label shows our first-added time when known. Searches start with Newest jobs. Choose Best match to sort by relevance.

Exact role names and reviewed aliases search title-based role matches. Other keywords search titles, companies and descriptions, with more weight given to titles. Ambiguous terms can offer a choice. RPN, for example, can mean registered practical nurse or registered psychiatric nurse. Matching is a guide and can miss unusual titles. It does not confirm qualifications, licences or immigration eligibility.

Student, summer and weekend filters use explicit wording in the original title or description. “No experience required” needs a clear source statement and is withheld when we detect a conflicting experience requirement. Training offered alone is not enough. These labels are derived search aids, not new employer promises. Always read the full requirements.

Roles shown as hiring now are ordered by matching listings, not Google search volume. We do not have verified keyword-demand figures. Role data sources and licences.

Pay you can rely on

Pay in the job summary comes from employer-supplied salary fields. We keep the stated currency and period, such as CAD per hour or USD per year. We do not silently convert pay or present an extracted estimate as confirmed salary.

Our pay coverage count means a listing has employer pay with a recognised period and currency. It does not mean every job in the market lists pay. We do not turn this limited sample into an average salary.

Useful browse pages

Every directory location and role has a usable page. For search-engine discovery, a new job collection needs at least 10 open listings from 3 employers. If inventory falls, a previously approved, nonempty job collection has a seven-day review window before it leaves search discovery. At each snapshot, empty pages leave search discovery without the review window. Snapshots older than 48 hours are not used to make a collection indexable.

These rules prevent pages for every possible filter combination. Search results remain available for your own search, while browse pages have stable addresses and real page links.

What the numbers mean

The homepage network total counts eligible US listings across MovoJobs and MovoEmploi, in all languages. Each listing counts once, including bilingual ads. This total comes from our latest catalogue snapshot. Your search results reflect your chosen language and filters.

Our browse counts cover listings with English descriptions, including bilingual ads. They describe this catalogue, not the whole US labour market. Counts are listings, not vacancies filled, unique positions or people hired. One listing can cover several hires or places. Categories can overlap, so their totals must not be added together.

We keep one snapshot per Toronto calendar day when the discovery worker runs. Gaps mean no snapshot was recorded. Changes can reflect source coverage or import activity as well as employers posting and closing jobs. We do not fill missing days or claim a trend from one observation.

When a page changes

Job pages keep one main address that includes the company when available. Older addresses lead to it. We record a new content version when the public details change. Processing the same source data again does not pretend the job is new.
