Construction Accountant, Hauppauge, Long Island, NY Robert Half | Anna Parson A growing construction company is seeking a Construction Accountant with experience supporting public works and commercial construction projects. Construction Accountant will partner closely with project teams and leadership while managing project accounting, compliance, and reporting activities in a fast-paced environment.
As the Construction Accountant, you will:
- Manage project accounting functions including billing, payables, job cost tracking, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Review subcontract agreements, change orders, and compliance documentation while ensuring insurance, certified payroll, prevailing wage, and contractual requirements are met.
- Coordinate union benefit reporting, audit requests, and other regulatory compliance activities related to active projects.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close, support financial and operational audits, and provide reporting and analysis to management.
- Work closely with Project Managers and other departments to monitor project performance, commitments, budgets, and contract obligations.
- Utilize construction ERP system to maintain project records, generate reports, and support construction accounting operations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of construction accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, WIP reporting, and public works compliance.
- Experience with certified payroll, union reporting, subcontractor management, and construction contracts.
- Proficiency with Sage 300 (Timberline) or similar construction accounting software.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
