We are looking for a detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our team in a contract position with the potential to become permanent. This role is centered on coordinating delivery activity from a desk-based operations environment, ensuring drivers are supported and routes stay on schedule throughout the day. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced setting, communicates clearly with drivers and team members, and uses sound judgment to resolve service and logistics issues as they arise.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily delivery operations by monitoring driver activity, maintaining route coverage, and helping keep schedules on track across a high-volume dispatch environment.
- Use internal dispatch and tracking tools to build, update, and oversee driver routes while ensuring delivery progress is accurately documented.
- Support pre-departure operations by receiving inbound trucks, organizing package sorting and route staging, and preparing the site for driver loadout.
- Assist drivers during loadout by managing check-in and check-out, answering operational questions, and providing guidance on service expectations, compliance, and delivery practices.
- Follow up on post-loadout issues by reconciling undelivered or failed packages, documenting exceptions, and escalating concerns related to payments, technology, or compliance when needed.
- Monitor drivers while they are on the road, respond to service disruptions, and maintain communication to help resolve delivery obstacles efficiently.
- Review proof-of-delivery records and photos for accuracy, identify missing or incomplete documentation, and flag issues for correction.
- Prepare end-of-shift handoff notes for the remote dispatch team so evening operations can continue with clear visibility into outstanding items.
- Provide limited operational support during peak periods, including assisting with package handling and floor coverage when business needs require it.
- Prior experience in dispatch, logistics coordination, transportation support, or a related operations role.
- Strong computer proficiency, including comfort using communication and spreadsheet tools such as Slack and Google Sheets.
- Ability to stay organized and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and empathetically with drivers and team members.
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to maintain an active presence on the operations floor and in the yard, including working outdoors as needed.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Customer service experience and logistics coordination knowledge are strongly preferred.
