Original job description
We are looking for a Senior Audit Manager to join a growing audit and risk oversight function. This role is suited for an experienced, detail-oriented individual who can lead complex audit engagements, evaluate control environments, and communicate meaningful insights to stakeholders across the organization. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen governance, risk management, and compliance practices while guiding project execution and supporting continuous improvement across audit activities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead complex audit and compliance reviews by defining objectives, organizing testing activities, and delivering clear conclusions to management on control effectiveness and risk exposure.
- Assess governance, risk, and internal control frameworks using a disciplined audit approach designed to identify gaps and support stronger business practices.
- Analyze control issues, determine their significance, and develop practical recommendations that balance risk reduction with operational efficiency.
- Track remediation efforts, review evidence of corrective actions, and confirm when issues have been fully addressed and are ready for closure.
- Oversee multiple assigned projects by directing priorities, maintaining timelines, and ensuring work products meet quality and documentation standards.
- Provide day-to-day leadership to team members and peers, offering guidance that strengthens audit execution and builds broader business understanding.
- Escalate obstacles that may affect deadlines or scope, and work with relevant risk, compliance, and control partners to keep engagements on track.
- Perform risk assessments in complex areas and recommend updates to audit coverage and methodology so resources remain focused on the most important risk areas.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- At least 5 years of experience in audit, risk, compliance, or a related function.
- Demonstrated ability to lead several projects simultaneously while managing scope, timing, and deliverables.
- Strong understanding of audit principles, internal controls, and risk evaluation methods, including appropriate application in practice.
- Experience collaborating with control, compliance, or risk management teams to plan and execute reviews effectively.
- Ability to mentor others, share technical knowledge, and help develop audit capabilities across a team.
- Broad business knowledge across multiple functions or deep expertise in a critical subject area.
- Background in financial services, public accounting, Sarbanes-Oxley testing, or financial audit work is strongly preferred; finance or accounting education and relevant certifications are a plus.
