We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join our team in Maple Heights, Ohio on a Contract basis, possibly contract to hire. In this role, you will oversee purchasing activities, build strong supplier partnerships, and help maintain a reliable flow of materials to meet production and customer needs. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, strong analytical ability, and a proactive approach to improving procurement performance.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee assigned purchasing categories and cultivate productive relationships with suppliers to support cost, quality, and service goals.
- Review material demand, assess supply needs, and maintain inventory levels that align with operational requirements.
- Issue purchase orders, confirm delivery commitments, and verify lead times to help ensure timely material availability.
- Keep purchasing, item, pricing, and supplier records current and accurate within the company system.
- Identify sourcing options, request quotations, and compare suppliers to improve value and delivery performance.
- Coordinate return activity with vendors and follow through on supplier quality or corrective action matters.
- Track urgent orders, expedite critical shipments, and communicate status updates that support production scheduling.
- Partner with Accounts Payable to investigate and resolve invoice mismatches and purchase order discrepancies.
- Assess supply risks, recommend practical solutions, and contribute to procurement projects and process improvements.
- At least 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations.
- Proven background managing supplier relationships and handling multiple commodity groups.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail in transactional and inventory-related work.
- Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP platform is preferred.
- Advanced or strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills across internal teams and external vendors.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
