This Long-term Contract position focuses on coordinating and resolving workers’ compensation claims while serving as a key point of contact for employees, medical professionals, legal representatives, and other partners. The ideal candidate will bring strong judgment, organization, and communication skills to help move claims efficiently from intake through closure while maintaining compliance with applicable requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee workers’ compensation cases from first notice of injury through final disposition, ensuring each file progresses accurately and on schedule.
- Review incident details, medical documentation, and supporting records to assess claim validity and determine appropriate next steps.
- Communicate regularly with injured employees, supervisors, healthcare providers, attorneys, investigators, and external service partners to gather updates and share claim information.
- Arrange and track medical care, confirm treatment plans, and evaluate clinical reports to support ongoing case management.
- Process indemnity and medical payments with attention to statutory guidelines, internal standards, and required timeframes.
- Prepare and issue claim-related notices, including determinations, delays, and benefit communications, within mandated deadlines.
- Maintain complete and well-organized claim files by documenting activity, preserving correspondence, and updating case notes promptly.
- Support investigations by securing statements, reviewing evidence, and identifying opportunities for recovery, settlement, return-to-work planning, or other cost-control measures.
- Partner with legal counsel and represent the organization in hearings, mediations, conferences, or similar proceedings when claims require formal resolution.
- Working knowledge of workers’ compensation administration, including claim evaluation, benefit handling, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to interpret medical records, incident reports, and related documentation to make sound claim decisions.
- Experience coordinating with employees, providers, attorneys, and third-party contacts in a timely and attentive manner.
- Strong analytical thinking, organization, and follow-through with the ability to manage multiple active cases at once.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for preparing reports, correspondence, and status updates.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms, claims management software, Microsoft Office applications, and general office technology.
- Experience in HR administration, onboarding support, employee relations, or screening processes is preferred.
