We are looking for an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer to join a team building intelligent applications and production-ready AI services in Irvine, California. This role combines software engineering, applied AI development, and operational ownership, with a focus on creating reliable user-facing tools and scalable backend systems. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with modern language model platforms, strong Python development skills, and the ability to translate business goals into practical AI solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Create and launch web-based products, AI-powered services, and multi-step agent workflows that support complex tool interactions and orchestration.
- Develop and support integrations with Anthropic platforms and Claude capabilities, including streaming responses, prompt optimization, caching strategies, and tool-enabled model behavior.
- Craft, refine, and assess prompts to improve consistency, safety, response quality, and cost performance across AI-driven features.
- Build backend REST APIs in Python and deliver front-end functionality in React and TypeScript to support AI-enabled user experiences.
- Manage deployment operations for AI systems by maintaining containerized services, delivery pipelines, cloud environments, and runtime monitoring.
- Design and tune database interactions for relational systems to ensure efficient querying and dependable application performance.
- Establish automated testing approaches for both standard software logic and probabilistic AI behavior, including evaluation workflows and regression coverage.
- Partner with technical and business stakeholders to convert operational needs into effective AI-based solutions and product enhancements.
- Produce clear technical documentation covering system architecture, prompt strategy, and the expected behavior and limitations of AI agents.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in software engineering, including 2 or more years working with Python in frameworks such as Flask or Django.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Anthropic tools and Claude Console in a production setting.
- Strong background in designing and supporting RESTful services, along with proficiency using Git for version control.
- Practical experience working with relational databases and writing efficient SQL for platforms such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Ability to build, troubleshoot, and improve agent-based workflows, including multi-turn tool usage, recovery handling, and validation patterns.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices such as Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployment environments like AWS or Azure.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain AI system behavior, limitations, and tradeoffs to non-technical audiences.
