We are looking for an Accounting Manager to support core accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Austin, Texas. This role will oversee essential close activities, maintain the accuracy of the general ledger, and help ensure reliable financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting experience, sound judgment, and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly close activities by coordinating timelines, reviewing entries, and ensuring financial records are finalized accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through detailed review, issue resolution, and consistent adherence to accounting standards.
- Prepare and review journal entries to support routine and non-routine accounting transactions across assigned areas.
- Perform and oversee account reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and driving timely corrective action.
- Support financial statement audit activity by organizing documentation, responding to auditor requests, and clarifying accounting treatments.
- Analyze accounting results and identify variances, trends, or unusual balances that require further review.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather financial information and improve the quality of reporting inputs.
- Document accounting processes and strengthen controls that support accurate reporting and efficient close execution.
- Proven experience managing month-end close processes within a corporate or high-volume accounting environment.
- Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial statement preparation.
- Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and completing detailed account reconciliations.
- Background supporting external or internal financial statement audits.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and internal control practices.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
