Robert Half is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a contract assignment with a growing manufacturing organization in the Grand Rapids area. This role will support the accounting and finance team through period-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on accounting detail oriented who is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and can quickly contribute to month-end close and financial analysis activities. Responsibilities Develop and maintain reports used for financial analysis, forecasting, and business results reporting. Record costs associated with newly acquired fixed assets and maintain fixed asset records. Calculate and record depreciation expense and account for fixed asset retirements and disposals. Manage incoming accounts receivable payments and accurately post cash receipts. Reconcile bank statements and prepare related cash journal entries. Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions in accordance with GAAP. Maintain and reconcile subsidiary ledgers, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed. Prepare and post month-end close journal entries. Reconcile general ledger accounts and research variances. Support financial statement preparation and reporting activities. Maintain organized accounting records, documentation, and filing systems. Collaborate with accounting leadership on special projects and process improvement initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes. Experience with fixed asset accounting and depreciation. Proficiency with general ledger reconciliations and journal entries. Experience handling accounts receivable and cash application activities. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and reporting. Experience working within ERP systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines.
