We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations in Lexington, Kentucky. This role is responsible for keeping financial records accurate, contributing to timely close activities, and helping produce reliable reporting for business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively across multiple accounting functions.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accuracy of general ledger activity by reviewing account balances and completing regular reconciliations.
- Create and record journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and other necessary accounting updates.
- Complete monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and key balance sheet accounts to ensure financial integrity.
- Contribute to month-end and year-end close by preparing schedules, validating entries, and resolving outstanding items.
- Develop financial reports, account analyses, and supporting documentation for management review.
- Research variances and accounting issues, then take appropriate action to correct discrepancies.
- Evaluate transaction coding to confirm proper classification and alignment with accounting standards.
- Support related accounting processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll reconciliations, fixed assets, inventory, and intercompany activity.
- Assist with audit preparation by organizing records and supplying requested financial documentation.
- Recommend process improvements that strengthen controls and increase efficiency within the accounting function.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software platforms.
- Experience with Epicor BisTrack or comparable enterprise accounting systems is preferred.
- Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with cross-functional teams.Ba
