We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support corporate accounting operations for a large organization in Northern Virginia. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented candidate who can manage critical close activities, maintain ledger accuracy, and strengthen financial reporting processes. The right candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and hands-on experience working in complex, high-volume environments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end close activities by preparing entries, reviewing balances, and ensuring deadlines are met accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through detailed analysis, account review, and timely correction of discrepancies.
- Complete account reconciliations and bank reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving outstanding items promptly.
- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate support while ensuring compliance with internal accounting standards and policies.
- Partner with accounts payable and other finance teams to confirm transactions are recorded correctly and reflected in the proper reporting periods.
- Support corporate accounting functions by analyzing financial data, documenting processes, and assisting with reporting requirements.
- Use NetSuite to manage accounting records, monitor account activity, and improve consistency across financial workflows.
- Proven experience in a senior accounting role within a large corporate environment.
- Strong background in month-end close, general ledger management, and journal entry preparation.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.
- Hands-on experience supporting accounts payable processes and broader corporate accounting activities.
- Proficiency with NetSuite (or similar ERP) and comfort working within established financial systems.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting practices.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, research discrepancies, and recommend solutions.
