We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join our team in Staatsburg, New York. This role will support core accounting operations across payables, receivables, financial close, and compliance activities while helping maintain accurate records and strong internal controls. The position also includes guidance of accounting staff and close collaboration with internal teams during audits, reporting cycles, and routine financial operations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead daily accounts payable activities, provide direction to team members, and monitor workflow accuracy and timeliness.
- Support accounts receivable and billing operations by overseeing staff activities and helping ensure revenue is recorded and reconciled properly.
- Contribute to month-end close by preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement support.
- Maintain accounting documentation, including general ledger procedures, allocation methodologies, bank records, and loan-related files.
- Partner with audit and compliance teams by assembling schedules, responding to requests, and assisting with annual financial reviews and regulatory reporting.
- Perform internal control reviews and accounting compliance checks to help strengthen financial processes and reduce risk.
- Reconcile bank and revenue accounts regularly and investigate variances to support accurate financial reporting.
- Provide cross-functional support to senior accounting peers and assist with special audits and revenue-related reporting requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a BA in Business Administration.
- At least 5 years of accounting experience in a related environment.
- Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation.
- Strong background in account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and revenue balancing.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable processes and financial controls.
- Ability to support audits, compliance activities, and recurring financial reporting deadlines.
- Prior experience leading or supervising accounting staff is preferred.
