We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join a contract opportunity supporting accounting operations in Knoxville, Tennessee. This Contract position will partner closely with accounting leadership to manage core financial activities, strengthen daily processes, and maintain accuracy across the general ledger environment. The ideal candidate brings solid hands-on experience in operational accounting, works well independently, and can contribute quickly in a fast-moving setting. Manufacturing experience is highly valued, and this assignment may offer the potential to transition into a longer-term role based on business needs and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Controller to complete month-end close activities and maintain consistent financial reporting workflows.
- Reconcile bank accounts and review cash transactions to ensure balances and activity are recorded accurately.
- Manage day-to-day accounting tasks across the organization, supporting reliable and timely financial operations.
- Coordinate bill payment activities and help establish efficient routines for ongoing disbursement processing.
- Provide oversight and support for both accounts payable and accounts receivable to promote accurate transaction handling.
- Maintain the general ledger by preparing, reviewing, and posting journal entries with strong attention to detail.
- Evaluate existing accounting procedures, recommend practical improvements, and help create more efficient workflows.

- At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including work performed at the senior accountant level.
- Demonstrated experience supporting a Controller or other accounting leadership in a hands-on capacity.
- Strong background in month-end close, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation.
- Proven skill in account reconciliations, including detailed bank reconciliation work.
- Practical experience managing or supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, and broader operational accounting functions.
- Manufacturing industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with NetSuite is preferred; experience with similar ERP systems will also be considered.
- Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.
