We are looking for an experienced Project Manager/Sr. Consultant to lead complex software initiatives and provide strategic guidance across cross-functional teams in Washington DC, District of Columbia. This role is ideal for someone who can balance hands-on project execution with senior-level stakeholder communication, ensuring timelines, priorities, and delivery goals remain aligned. The successful candidate will help drive efficient program delivery, strengthen project governance, and support continuous improvement within an IT software environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead software and IT projects from initiation through delivery, establishing clear plans, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
- Coordinate with business leaders, technical teams, and external partners to keep project objectives, scope, and timelines aligned.
- Apply Agile and Scrum practices to organize work, facilitate team collaboration, and support steady delivery of project goals.
- Track progress, manage dependencies, and address project risks or obstacles before they affect schedule, budget, or quality.
- Use Jira and related tools to maintain project visibility, monitor backlog activity, and communicate status updates effectively.
- Prepare and present reporting for stakeholders, offering clear insight into milestones, issues, and overall program health.
- Support governance standards by maintaining documentation, meeting structures, and delivery processes across multiple initiatives.
- Guide process improvements and operational changes tied to project execution when business or technology updates require coordination.
- At least 5 years of experience managing IT or software projects in structured work environments.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including Agile and Scrum frameworks.
- PMP certification is required or strongly preferred for candidates in this role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams.
- Hands-on experience using Atlassian Jira for planning, tracking, and reporting project activity.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with technical teams and senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to identify risks, solve problems proactively, and keep projects moving toward successful completion.
