We are looking for a Litigation Paralegal to join a boutique litigation practice in San Diego, California on a Long-term Contract basis. This position supports active business, construction, and real estate disputes from early case development through trial, with a strong emphasis on discovery, filing coordination, and preparation for depositions and court proceedings. The role is well suited to someone who can step into a busy caseload quickly, work independently, and keep complex matters organized in a primarily remote environment with occasional in-person support as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and prepare case materials for depositions, hearings, and trial proceedings so attorneys have accurate and accessible documentation.
- Draft, compile, and format discovery requests and responses using established templates while ensuring consistency and completeness.
- Oversee document collection, review, indexing, and production to support litigation strategy and compliance obligations.
- Coordinate court filings from submission through confirmation, working with filing vendors when needed and tracking each matter to completion.
- Maintain calendars for litigation deadlines, filing requirements, and procedural milestones to help matters stay on schedule.
- Support trial and deposition readiness by managing exhibits, assembling binders, and preparing materials for witness and attorney use.
- Keep case files current and well structured within case management systems so records remain easy to retrieve and audit.
- Work closely with attorneys and legal support staff to advance active litigation matters and respond to shifting case demands.
- Provide additional support during peak trial activity, including possible travel related to preparation or attendance if required.
- At least 3 years of experience in a litigation paralegal role.
- Demonstrated background supporting matters through discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.
- Strong understanding of court filing practices, litigation procedures, and deadline management.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing assignments, and adapt to changing case needs.
- High level of organization and attention to detail in document-heavy environments.
- Proficiency with case management software and litigation support tools.
- Experience in business, construction, or real estate litigation is preferred.
- Availability to support a primarily remote schedule with occasional in-person work as needed.
