We are looking for an Insurance Verification Coordinator to support operations for an organization in Minneapolis, MN. This long term contract position focuses on confirming patient coverage details, securing required authorizations, and helping ensure a smooth financial clearance process before services are provided. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of medical insurance procedures, attention to detail, and a service-oriented approach when working with patients, providers, and payers.
Responsibilities:
- Review insurance information for accuracy and confirm active coverage prior to scheduled services or treatment.
- Obtain pre-authorizations, referrals, and other payer approvals needed to avoid delays in care or billing issues.
- Communicate with insurance carriers, provider offices, and patients to resolve eligibility questions and clarify benefit details.
- Document verification outcomes, authorization status, and follow-up actions in the appropriate records with a high level of accuracy.
- Coordinate with clinical and administrative teams to address missing information and support timely patient scheduling.
- Monitor outstanding verification and authorization requests to ensure completion within required timeframes.
- Provide courteous customer service while explaining insurance-related information and next steps to patients or internal stakeholders.
- At least 2 years of experience in medical insurance verification or a closely related healthcare administrative role.
- Working knowledge of insurance eligibility review, benefit validation, and authorization processes.
- Experience handling referrals and coordinating payer-related documentation in a medical setting.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- High attention to detail and accuracy when managing records, approvals, and coverage information.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Proficiency with standard office systems and electronic documentation tools used in healthcare operations.
