We are looking for a Firewall Network Technician to support a Contract assignment in Pikeville, Kentucky. This role focuses on replacing existing firewall hardware with preconfigured UniFi equipment, confirming network connectivity after installation, and capturing accurate site documentation. The ideal candidate is comfortable with hands-on network hardware work, follows established deployment schedules, and collaborates effectively with remote support teams when needed.
Responsibilities:
- Install preconfigured firewall devices at assigned locations and complete the on-site hardware replacement process safely and efficiently.
- Disconnect existing network equipment and bring the new firewall into service while minimizing disruption at the site.
- Verify internet and local network connectivity after installation to confirm the environment is operating as expected.
- Perform basic cable handling and equipment connections to ensure a clean and reliable setup.
- Document the completed work, including installation status, connectivity results, and any site-specific observations.
- Coordinate with the client’s scheduling and project contacts to complete visits according to the planned rollout timeline.
- Work alongside remote technical support personnel to troubleshoot issues encountered during deployment or activation.
- Receive shipped equipment when required and confirm the correct device is available before beginning the installation.
- Hands-on experience with UniFi or other Ubiquiti networking products.
- Practical knowledge of firewall installation, configuration, and general network security devices.
- Familiarity with SonicWall environments and comparable firewall technologies.
- Ability to perform physical hardware swaps, connect cabling, and validate network functionality on site.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving connectivity issues during network equipment deployments.
- Comfortable documenting field activity clearly and accurately after each service visit.
- Ability to work independently at customer locations while coordinating with remote technical resources.
