This Contract position is centered on logistics planning and driver support, with a strong emphasis on route oversight, issue resolution, and clear communication throughout the day. The ideal candidate is comfortable working at a desk while also staying engaged on the floor and in the yard, and can remain organized and responsive in a high-volume environment.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily dispatch activities for a large driver group, helping keep routes on schedule and addressing service needs as they arise.
- Use company tools and scheduling systems to build, track, and adjust delivery routes based on operational demands.
- Maintain continuous support coverage across dispatch workstations to ensure smooth site operations during active shifts.
- Assist with truck intake, route staging, and facility readiness before drivers begin loadout.
- Support driver check-in and departure processes by answering questions, resolving package concerns, and confirming route readiness.
- Provide on-the-job guidance to drivers related to performance expectations, compliance standards, and effective delivery practices.
- Monitor active routes, investigate failed deliveries, and help resolve package exceptions after loadout.
- Review proof-of-delivery documentation for accuracy, identify missing or incorrect records, and escalate technical, payment, or compliance issues when needed.
- Prepare end-of-shift operational notes and handoff updates for the remote dispatch team, and assist with package sorting during peak periods as required.
- At least 2 years of experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, or a related service operations role.
- Proficiency with computer-based tools such as Slack, Google Sheets, and other scheduling or tracking platforms.
- Ability to stay composed under pressure, make sound decisions quickly, and take initiative without constant direction.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and empathetically with drivers and team members.
- Experience supporting customer service or call-center-style interactions in a fast-moving environment.
- Comfortable working in a role that includes both desk-based coordination and active presence on the floor or in the yard.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and work outdoors for limited periods as part of daily operations.
