We are looking for a Dispatcher to oversee day-to-day route coordination and delivery support for a busy operation located in the Greater Philadelphia Region. This long-term contract position is best suited for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, desk-based logistics environment while staying engaged with drivers and on-site activity. The ideal Dispatcher candidate can manage competing priorities, communicate clearly with empathy, and use technology confidently to keep deliveries moving efficiently.
Here’s how you’ll contribute each day:
- Coordinate daily dispatch activity for a large group of drivers, helping maintain smooth delivery execution across multiple active routes.
- Use route planning and tracking systems to build schedules, monitor delivery progress, and respond quickly to operational changes.
- Support site readiness before departures by receiving inbound vehicles, organizing staged work, and preparing the facility for driver loadout.
- Assist drivers during launch by handling check-in and check-out, resolving package questions, and providing guidance on service expectations, compliance, and delivery practices.
- Monitor drivers throughout the day, investigate delivery exceptions, and escalate payment, technical, or policy-related concerns when needed.
- Review proof-of-delivery records and photos, identify missing or inaccurate documentation, and ensure issues are properly flagged for follow-up.
- Reconcile failed or unresolved packages after route activity, reset the workspace, and complete accurate end-of-shift documentation for the next dispatch team.
- Maintain coverage across dispatch stations and, during high-volume periods, provide limited hands-on support with package sorting as needed.
- Prior experience in dispatch, logistics coordination, transportation support, or a similar fast-moving operations environment.
- Strong computer proficiency, including comfort with communication and spreadsheet tools such as Slack and Google Sheets.
- Ability to remain organized and make sound decisions while managing pressure, shifting priorities, and time-sensitive issues.
- Clear and effective communication skills with a customer-focused, approachable, and empathetic style.
- Proven ability to take initiative, solve problems independently, and collaborate effectively with drivers and on-site teams.
- Willingness to maintain an active presence on the floor and in the yard, including outdoor exposure as part of daily responsibilities.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
