This contract-to-permanent opportunity is suited for a hands-on, detail-oriented candidate who can build effective safeguards, respond to evolving threats, and partner with technical teams to reduce risk across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid systems. The role requires strong engineering judgment, practical incident response experience, and the ability to support compliance-minded security operations in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Build, configure, and support security technologies that protect endpoints, networks, identities, and critical business systems.
- Oversee ongoing monitoring activities to identify malicious behavior, unusual system events, and indicators of compromise across the environment.
- Lead investigations into security events, determine underlying causes, and drive containment, recovery, and corrective actions.
- Perform vulnerability reviews, risk evaluations, and security assessments to uncover weaknesses and prioritize remediation efforts.
- Create, refine, and uphold security standards, operational procedures, and technical policies that align with business and compliance needs.
- Partner with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to integrate security practices into system design, deployment, and maintenance.
- Administer access control strategies that support least-privilege principles, privileged account protection, and secure identity management.
- Strengthen security across Azure, Microsoft security tools, Windows-based environments, and business continuity and disaster recovery processes.
- Maintain clear technical documentation covering security architecture, incident handling activities, and audit or compliance support materials.
- At least 5 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, information security, or a closely related technical security role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Demonstrated experience with cyber defense tools, including Microsoft Security Suite, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, firewalls, VPNs, and vulnerability management platforms.
- Working knowledge of threat detection, incident resolution, security monitoring, and root cause analysis within enterprise environments.
- Solid understanding of networking, secure system design, operating systems, and Microsoft Azure or comparable cloud security concepts.
- Experience supporting identity and access controls, risk reduction initiatives, and vulnerability remediation programs.
- Familiarity with scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and communication skills for working effectively with cross-functional teams.
