Are you someone who thrives when things are busy? Do you enjoy a high-energy environment where you're constantly communicating, solving problems, and juggling multiple priorities? A leading transportation and logistics company in the Chattanooga area is looking for a Seasonal Customer Service Representative to join its team during the busy holiday peak season. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working at a fast pace and wants to gain valuable experience in the transportation and logistics industry. While this assignment is initially seasonal, top performers may be considered for a long-term opportunity if a permanent opening becomes available.
This is not a traditional account-management role. You won't be responsible for owning customer accounts. Instead, you'll focus on the operational and administrative side of customer service - helping track shipments, respond to customer requests, schedule appointments, build loads, and make sure information is accurate and up to date.
What You'll Do
- Respond to customer inquiries and requests primarily through email
- Provide shipment tracking updates, ETAs, and status information
- Monitor and trace shipments to ensure loads are running on schedule
- Proactively communicate with customers when delays or service issues arise
- Pull and process loads through EDI and assist with building loads
- Schedule appointments and maintain accurate load information
- Support dedicated Customer Service Representatives with daily administrative and operational tasks
- Collaborate with Planning, Carrier Sales, Fleet Management, and other teams to ensure customer expectations are met
- Research and maintain accurate shipment and service information
- Maintain data accuracy and integrity within company systems
- Manage multiple priorities in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
We're looking for someone who likes to stay busy. You don't need to come from a traditional logistics background to be successful. Individuals with experience in restaurants, hospitality, retail, call centers, or other high-volume customer-facing environments can be a great fit. If you've worked as a server, bartender, host, restaurant manager, or in another fast-paced role where you've had to constantly prioritize, communicate, problem-solve, and deliver great customer service under pressure, you may have many of the skills needed to succeed here.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Get your foot in the door with a leading transportation and logistics organization
- Gain hands-on experience in the growing transportation and logistics industry
- Work with an experienced customer service and operations team
- Play an important role during one of the company's busiest times of the year
- Build experience with shipment tracking, EDI, logistics systems, and transportation operations
- Work in a dynamic environment where no two days are exactly alike
- Potential for a long-term opportunity: Strong performers who demonstrate reliability, adaptability, and a great team fit may be considered for a permanent position when an opening becomes available
If you're someone who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys helping people, and can keep your cool when the pressure is on, this could be a great opportunity to put those skills to work in a new industry.
- At least 1 year of experience in customer service, call center support, or a similar operations-focused role.

- Familiarity with order entry, status documentation, or updating information in computer-based systems.
- Comfortable following established procedures and prioritizing work in a structured setting.
- Reliable problem-solving skills with the judgment to identify issues and escalate them promptly.
