We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day financial operations for a agriculture organization in Salinas, California. This contract to permanent role is well suited for someone who brings strong accounting fundamentals, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to stay organized while handling competing deadlines. The role offers the chance to contribute across payables, receivables, and reconciliations while working with financial systems and spreadsheets to keep records current and reliable.
Responsibilities:
- Process vendor invoices with accurate coding and timely entry into the accounting system.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to help maintain smooth daily transaction flow.
- Perform bank and account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and support accurate financial reporting.
- Communicate with vendors to resolve billing questions, payment issues, and account differences professionally.
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation for routine accounting activity.
- Use Excel to track, analyze, and validate financial data across multiple reports and reconciliations.
- Support month-end accounting tasks by reviewing transactions and helping ensure balances are complete and accurate.
- Work within Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar ERP systems to manage accounting information and assist with process continuity as needed.
- At least 3 years of experience in accounting, accounts payable, or a similar analytical finance role.
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice coding, and reconciliations.
- Strong Excel skills with the ability to work efficiently with financial data and reporting tools.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics AX or a comparable ERP/accounting platform is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and a consistent approach to accuracy in transaction processing.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced work environment.
- Strong communication skills for working with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Background in agriculture or the fresh produce industry is a plus.
