We are looking for an experienced Sr. Paralegal to support high-stakes litigation matters in a collaborative, trial-focused law firm environment in Northern Virginia. This role is ideal for someone who thrives under shifting deadlines, takes initiative in managing case support, and is comfortable increasing in-office presence as trial activity intensifies. The position offers meaningful involvement in federal court matters, close coordination with legal teams, and the opportunity to contribute across complex commercial and patent litigation matters.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate day-to-day litigation support across active matters, managing priorities independently while partnering closely with attorneys and fellow paralegals.
- Prepare for trial by organizing exhibits, witness materials, hearing and trial binders, and war room logistics to keep proceedings running smoothly.
- Assist with court filings and case documents in federal matters, ensuring submissions are accurate, timely, and properly formatted.
- Support attorneys with drafting, cite-checking, and proofreading legal materials, including verification of citations using Bluebook standards.
- Track deadlines, maintain case calendars, and respond quickly to changing case demands, including occasional next-day in-office support when needed.
- Work within a team-based staffing model where responsibilities shift by matter, contributing wherever needed and helping coordinate case workflows.
- Collaborate through virtual and in-person communication channels to keep case teams aligned on status, deliverables, and upcoming milestones.
- Provide litigation support for patent-related disputes and other complex commercial cases, adapting to the needs of each matter as it progresses.
- At least 3 years of paralegal experience supporting litigation matters, including substantive trial support and trial attendance.
- Proven hands-on involvement in trial preparation, including document organization, exhibit management, filings, and deadline-driven coordination.
- Experience working on cases in federal court.
- Strong knowledge of Bluebook citation rules and the ability to perform accurate cite-checking.
- Background in commercial litigation, complex litigation, or patent litigation; patent litigation experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, low-hierarchy team environment and adjust to shifting assignments.
- Willingness to work in a hybrid setting in McLean, Virginia, with additional in-office time during trial preparation and active trial periods
