Original job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Buyer to support purchasing operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Ramsey, Minnesota. In this role, you will help maintain a steady flow of materials, components, and supplies needed for manufacturing by partnering with suppliers and internal teams. The position works closely with supply chain leadership to manage routine procurement activities, track order status, and address everyday delivery or availability concerns. This opportunity is well suited for someone who is organized, responsive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Convert approved internal requests into purchase orders while following established procurement guidelines.
  • Review demand needs and align material purchases with production timing and inventory requirements.
  • Work directly with vendors to confirm pricing, lead times, order details, and shipment commitments.
  • Track outstanding orders, follow up on delayed shipments, and help resolve routine supply interruptions.
  • Partner with manufacturing and other internal teams to respond to shortages, receiving issues, and basic quality-related concerns.
  • Keep purchasing files and order information current within company systems and documentation records.
  • Support day-to-day buying activities for raw materials, components, and operational supplies required for ongoing production.
  • Carry out additional procurement-related tasks as needed to support supply chain operations.
  • Associate degree preferred; comparable hands-on experience in purchasing or supply chain may be considered in place of formal education.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in procurement, buying, or supply chain support is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of purchasing workflows, inventory coordination, and supplier communication practices.
  • Strong organizational ability with close attention to detail and the capacity to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience using ERP or purchasing systems such as Oracle or IBM AS/400 is preferred.
  • Background in manufacturing, industrial purchasing, or raw materials procurement is a plus.
