Our capital investment firm client is looking for an experienced Controller level consultant to support the accuracy and integrity of accounting operations for two entities. This part time contract opportunity is fully remote and is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting leader who can assess current records, resolve inconsistencies, and strengthen the overall quality of financial reporting. The role will provide an independent review of existing books while working closely with internal staff to improve processes and support a dependable month-end close.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct a detailed review of current-year financial records across two separate entities to evaluate completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
- Investigate accounting discrepancies, trace underlying causes, and implement corrective entries or cleanup actions where needed.
- Prepare and refine financial statements so they are reliable, well-supported, and suitable for internal and external presentation.
- Offer an objective assessment of existing accounting practices and identify areas that require stronger controls or closer review.
- Collaborate with the internal accounting team member to provide guidance, share best practices, and help develop controller-level capabilities.
- Support and improve month-end close activities to promote timely and accurate reporting. Help existing accounting staff expand their month end close capabilities.
- Work within Sage Intacct, ServiceTitan, and Bill.com to analyze transactions, reconcile data, and verify accounting flow between systems.
- Document findings, recommendations, and remediation steps to help establish a more stable and dependable accounting environment.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior-level responsibility for financial review and close processes.
- Strong background in full-cycle accounting with the ability to identify and correct complex bookkeeping issues.
- Demonstrated experience performing account cleanup, detailed financial review, or forensic-style analysis of accounting records.
- Practical expertise with Sage Intacct (mandatory) in a hands-on accounting or controllership capacity.
- Working knowledge of ServiceTitan (mandatory) and Bill.com, including how transactions impact the general ledger.
- Solid understanding of month-end close procedures, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Ability to work independently, evaluate details thoroughly, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring or supporting less senior accounting staff is highly valued.
