Robert Half Management Resources is looking for an experienced Controller to join one of our clients on an interim basis. This role will guide the financial systems implementation effort tied to Vista by Viewpoint, working closely with finance leaders, operational stakeholders, and project teams to build a structure that supports accurate reporting and strong business controls. The ideal candidate brings deep construction accounting knowledge and can translate operational needs into an effective system design that supports project performance, compliance, and decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Shape the Vista by Viewpoint setup to reflect the company’s financial and operational framework, including entities, regions, divisions, trades, cost centers, and projects.
- Collaborate with internal leaders to create reporting structures that provide visibility across corporate, regional, trade, and project performance.
- Oversee the mapping, conversion, and review of accounting, project, vendor, customer, employee, and job-related data entering the new platform.
- Reconcile converted information against legacy records, identify inconsistencies, and support data standardization efforts before final migration.
- Establish user access, permission levels, and role-based security that align with accounting, operations, project management, and leadership needs.
- Configure approval paths and workflow routing for purchasing, subcontract administration, change management, accounts payable processing, and expense authorization.
- Direct user acceptance testing for finance and operational processes, ensuring transactions, reporting outputs, and job cost activity perform as intended.
- Resolve system and process issues during implementation, assist with deployment readiness, and provide support through go-live stabilization.
- Partner with leadership to define dashboards, financial reports, work-in-process views, and profitability metrics that support informed decision-making.
- Demonstrated experience in a Controller, accounting implementation, or comparable finance leadership role within the construction industry.
- Hands-on knowledge of Vista by Viewpoint, including system configuration, reporting structure setup, and user security management.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, job costing, revenue recognition, and financial reporting design.
- Background in data conversion activities, including mapping, validation, reconciliation, and data quality review.
- Experience developing workflows, approval logic, and internal controls that support compliance and segregation of duties.
- Ability to work effectively with finance, operations, project teams, and executive stakeholders in a cross-functional environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and testing skills with the ability to identify issues and drive practical solutions during implementation.
