We are looking for a senior Workday integration engineer to lead the design and support of enterprise integrations connecting Workday with other business platform. This position is best suited for someone who brings strong hands-on experience with Workday web services, APIs, and integration troubleshooting, along with broader software engineering judgment. The role focuses on building dependable, well-governed integration solutions that preserve Workday business logic while enabling effective orchestration through external automation tools.
Responsibilities:
- Architect and develop integration solutions that connect Workday with enterprise applications using Workday web services, APIs, and related interface methods.
- Investigate and resolve complex integration failures by reviewing raw request and response data, identifying root causes, and applying targeted fixes.
- Create integration flows that include input validation, reliable exception handling, retry logic, and traceable logging for auditability.
- Analyze Workday business process behavior, data relationships, and transaction sequencing to ensure accurate system interactions.
- Collaborate with technical teams using tools such as Power Automate and other workflow platforms to support orchestration and downstream processing.
- Maintain appropriate authentication, security controls, and execution context across system interfaces.
- Ensure external automation respects Workday’s role as the system of record and does not bypass core approval or business rule controls.
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience building and supporting Workday integrations in a technical engineering capacity.
- Strong knowledge of Workday APIs, web services, data structures, and object relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to inspect or manually adjust raw integration requests and responses to diagnose and correct issues.
- Proven skill in troubleshooting integrations without depending solely on abstraction tools or prebuilt templates.
- Solid understanding of integration architecture, including validation patterns, deterministic processing, error recovery, and observability.
- Experience working with security models, authentication methods, and controlled data exchange between enterprise platforms.
- Ability to communicate technical problem-solving clearly, including detailed explanations of failure analysis and remediation steps.
