We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join a long-term contract opportunity. This role focuses on building and enhancing reliable back-end applications and services that support secure, scalable, and high-performing web solutions. The position offers the chance to contribute across the full development lifecycle while partnering with technical teams to deliver well-designed, maintainable software.
Responsibilities:
- Translate business needs into practical technical approaches and contribute to solution design throughout planning, development, testing, and release activities.
- Create and enhance back-end services and application features using modern C# and .NET technologies, while resolving defects and improving existing functionality.
- Produce clear technical documentation, define implementation details, and provide realistic effort estimates based on project scope and priorities.
- Strengthen application security and data protection by applying sound engineering practices, reviewing code quality, and aligning development work with established standards.
- Improve performance and reliability by analyzing monitoring insights, refining database queries and structures, and supporting efficient data processing.
- Build and support database solutions using PostgreSQL and related technologies, including optimization for complex data storage and retrieval needs.
- Contribute to automated delivery processes from development through production using CI/CD practices and cloud-based tooling.
- Work within Agile or hybrid delivery frameworks while collaborating with team members and offering technical guidance to less experienced developers.
- Develop solutions that leverage Azure services such as Functions, Service Bus, App Configuration, containers, and application monitoring capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or comparable relevant experience.
- At least 6 years of software development experience, including strong background in full-stack or back-end engineering environments.
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience with C#, .NET 6/7/8, Entity Framework Core, REST-based services, and microservices development.
- Practical experience with PostgreSQL, SQL, and database design, including query tuning and efficient data modeling.
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture, distributed systems, and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
- Experience with Azure cloud services, including Function Apps, Azure Service Bus, App Configuration, Application Insights, and identity solutions such as Microsoft Entra ID.
- Knowledge of CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar automation tools, along with unit testing frameworks such as xUnit.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to work independently and support team success.
