A rapidly growing alternative investment firm is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join its finance team in San Francisco. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who wants to move beyond traditional fund accounting and gain hands-on experience across fund finance, treasury, investor activities, financial reporting, audits, and business analysis within a sophisticated investment platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and validate fund accounting activities prepared by external service providers, including NAV calculations, capital activity, allocations, and financial reporting.
- Serve as a primary liaison and oversight partner for third-party fund administrators.
- Review monthly, quarterly, and annual fund accounting deliverables and investigate variances or unusual activity.
- Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements, supporting schedules, and management reporting.
- Partner with service providers to resolve accounting issues and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
- Support treasury operations, including cash management, liquidity monitoring, forecasting, and wire activity.
- Assist with capital calls, distributions, subscriptions, and other investor transactions.
- Respond to investor-related requests and support the delivery of financial information.
- Coordinate year-end audits, tax reporting processes, and interactions with external advisors.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis, modeling, and special projects across the finance organization.
- Enhance accounting processes, controls, reporting procedures, and operational efficiencies.
- Collaborate closely with finance leadership on broader fund finance and operational initiatives.

Qualifications
- 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Public accounting experience strongly preferred, particularly Big 4
- CPA preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience with investment funds, private equity, venture capital, alternative investments, or financial services preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting fundamentals
- Ability to review third-party accounting work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced investment environment
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial data
- Intellectual curiosity and an interest in understanding the broader investment management business
