Robert Half is actively partnering with an Austin-based client to identify a Network Engineer (contract). In this role, you will lead the design, administration, and security of enterprise network infrastructure across both on-premises and cloud environments. This individual will play a key role in ensuring network performance, reliability, scalability, and security while supporting a growing, highly regulated organization. This role is onsite in Austin, Tx.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Manage routing, switching, firewalls, WAN/LAN, wireless networks, and cloud networking components.
- Develop and maintain network segmentation strategies to support security and compliance requirements.
- Administer firewall policies, network access controls, and perimeter security solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network performance, connectivity, and infrastructure issues.
- Monitor network health, reliability, and capacity to support business growth.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, configurations, and change records.
- Partner with IT, security, and engineering teams on infrastructure planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer, Network Administrator, or related infrastructure role.
- Strong experience supporting enterprise network environments, including routing, switching, firewalls, WAN/LAN, and wireless technologies.
- Experience designing and supporting cloud networking within AWS environments.
- Knowledge of network segmentation, security architecture, and compliance-focused infrastructure design.
- Hands-on experience with firewall administration and policy management.
- Proven ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.
- Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CCNP certification or equivalent advanced networking credentials.
- Experience within highly regulated industries such as manufacturing, aerospace, healthcare, government, financial services, or other compliance-driven environments.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards.
- AWS networking certifications or advanced AWS infrastructure experience.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
- Exposure to zero-trust networking, network automation, or cloud security best practices.
