Remote job! Chris Preble is working with a growing healthcare technology company that is developing innovative solutions at the intersection of advanced science, artificial intelligence, and personalized healthcare. As the company prepares for new product launches and significant market expansion, they're looking for a hands-on, entrepreneurial Marketing Manager to help strengthen their brand, better understand their customers, and execute marketing initiatives that support growth. The company is flexible on how this role is structured. They're open to candidates seeking anywhere from approximately 20 hours per week to a full-time commitment. The hours and scope of the engagement will depend on the experience, skill set, and availability of the person hired. Opportunity This is a roll-up-your-sleeves role, not a planning role. From day one, you'll talk with customers, test messaging, and produce work the business can use immediately. You'll report to the Head of Marketing, work with outside agencies and other teams, and have no direct reports. The role may grow as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Speak directly with customers through interviews, calls, surveys, and field visits to understand their needs, frustrations, and buying motivations.
- Turn feedback into timely, actionable insights for commercial, product, and leadership teams.
- Serve as the voice of the customer, bringing their perspective into daily decisions.
- Identify high-potential customer segments and develop practical personas and buying journeys.
- Monitor competitors and market trends to uncover opportunities for differentiation and growth.
- Create and refine brand positioning, value propositions, and messaging grounded in real customer language.
- Personally write and edit website copy, sales materials, presentations, campaigns, and other customer-facing content.
- Test concepts and messaging directly with customers, incorporate feedback, and make improvements quickly.
- Direct outside marketing agencies, providing briefs and feedback while managing quality, timing, and budgets.
- Use CRM, marketing automation, website management, analytics, social media, and research tools to execute programs and measure what works.
- Support product launches with ready-to-use customer insights, messaging, and marketing materials.
What We Are Looking For You're entrepreneurial, curious, and action-oriented. You would rather call a customer than spend weeks writing a plan. You listen closely, work comfortably with incomplete information, and turn ideas into finished work quickly. You can conduct research, write strong copy, and build trust across Commercial, R&D, Technology, and executive leadership. You'll shape how the company understands customers and goes to market.
- Hands-on experience in customer insights, market research, brand management, product marketing, or marketing strategy.
- Background at a mid- to large-sized organization in a regulated healthcare-related industry, such as medical devices, diagnostics, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare services.
- Proven ability to turn customer research into segmentation, personas, brand positioning, messaging, and useful marketing materials.
- Strong writing, communication, and storytelling skills, and ability to explain complex healthcare concepts.
- Experience personally creating content and collaborating with outside agencies and creative partners.
- Comfortable using CRM tools such as Salesforce or HubSpot, marketing automation, Google Analytics, and website and social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing needs, and deliver results in a fast-moving, remote environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for research, conferences, or meetings.
- Preferred: Startup or high-growth experience, product launches, customer journey mapping, message testing, or contract/fractional marketing work.
