We are looking for an accomplished Chief Financial Officer / VP of Accounting and Finance to lead financial strategy and oversight for a growing organization in Riverside, California. This executive will guide planning, reporting, and operational finance while helping the business scale responsibly and profitably. The ideal candidate brings strong construction industry expertise, a command of project-based accounting, and the leadership presence to influence decisions across the company.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the company’s overall financial strategy, aligning long-term plans with operational goals and growth priorities.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial performance analysis to support sound business decisions.
- Oversee accounting and finance functions, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
- Manage project-based financial oversight, including job costing, contract-related reporting, and profitability analysis across construction activities.
- Partner with executive leadership to evaluate expansion opportunities, business performance, and investment decisions, including potential mergers and acquisitions.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with banking partners, insurers, and other external financial stakeholders.
- Develop and mentor the finance team, establishing high standards for accountability, communication, and execution.
- Support financial systems and reporting improvements, including effective use of enterprise platforms and process enhancements where needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a closely related discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including service as a CFO, Controller, Director of Finance, or in a comparable senior role.
- Prior experience in the construction industry is ideal.
- Expertise in job costing, project accounting, and construction-related financial reporting.
- Demonstrated success supporting organizational growth, expansion, and strategic planning initiatives.
- Experience with ERP platforms is required.
- Certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred.
- Excellent leadership, executive presence, and communication skills with the ability to build trust across the organization.
