We are looking for a motivated Staff Accountant to join a growing cosmetics organization in Bergen County, New Jersey. This opportunity is well suited for a detail-oriented accounting candidate who wants to expand hands-on experience across core accounting functions while contributing to a collaborative team. The role offers exposure to daily accounting operations, financial close activities, and reporting support in a dynamic business environment.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to monthly and annual closing processes by preparing supporting entries and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Record journal entries and complete reconciliations to keep financial records accurate and current.
- Review bank activity and balance sheet accounts regularly, resolving variances in a timely manner.
- Provide day-to-day assistance with both accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
- Help preserve the accuracy of the general ledger through careful review and consistent maintenance of account details.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation used in internal financial reporting during period-end close.
- Examine transaction activity, identify unusual items, and research discrepancies to support accurate reporting.
- Assist with audit preparation and year-end documentation by gathering requested records and answering follow-up questions.
- Take part in workflow enhancements and ad hoc accounting projects that improve efficiency and reporting quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- At least 2 years of accounting experience; internship experience may also be considered.
- Working knowledge of accounting fundamentals and standard financial practices.
- Experience preparing journal entries and supporting general ledger activities.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills for analysis, reconciliation, and reporting tasks.
- Solid organizational and analytical abilities with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to manage responsibilities independently while collaborating effectively with a broader team.
