We are looking for an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations across multiple sites in Richmond, Virginia. This position oversees complex general ledger activity, supports accurate financial reporting, and helps maintain strong control over diverse revenue sources and balance sheet accounts. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to keep monthly and annual reporting processes running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Direct general ledger activities for three operating locations, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and consistently across entities.
- Lead the month-end close process by coordinating timelines, reviewing entries, and resolving issues that could affect timely reporting.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account analyses, and supporting schedules to maintain complete and reliable financial records.
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances to confirm the integrity of account balances.
- Support internal and external audit activities by organizing documentation, answering inquiries, and addressing follow-up items.
- Monitor financial results across multiple income streams and evaluate accounting treatment for unusual or complex transactions.
- Strengthen accounting procedures and internal controls to improve accuracy, compliance, and efficiency within the function.
- Partner with operational and finance stakeholders to provide clear reporting insights and guidance on accounting matters.
- Strong experience managing month-end close activities within a multi-location or multi-entity environment.
- In-depth knowledge of general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliation processes.
- Proven ability to prepare and review journal entries with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience supporting financial statement audits and responding effectively to auditor requests.
- Solid understanding of financial reporting requirements and accounting controls.
- Ability to analyze complex account activity and identify discrepancies or reporting risks.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills in a fast-paced accounting environment.
