We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to support a high-volume Excel-based project in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is a Long-term Contract opportunity requiring a strong commitment for at least one year, with a Monday through Thursday schedule. The role is ideal for someone who is highly skilled in spreadsheet analysis, comfortable working through large sets of financial information, and able to deliver accurate results in a structured environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and organize a large volume of project-related financial data using advanced Excel functions and tools.
- Review records for accuracy, identify inconsistencies, and resolve data issues to support reliable reporting.
- Perform financial analysis to uncover trends, summarize results, and support business decision-making.
- Build and maintain spreadsheet models that help track activity, compare outcomes, and improve visibility into project performance.
- Conduct ad hoc analysis and variance reviews to explain changes, exceptions, and unusual financial patterns.
- Apply data mining techniques to extract meaningful insights from extensive datasets and present findings clearly.
- Complete assigned work within established timelines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Support card- and sales-related accounting activities as needed within the scope of the project.
- Demonstrated strength in Excel, including the ability to work efficiently with large and complex datasets.
- Prior experience in accounting, financial analysis, or a closely related function.
- Ability to complete and pass an Excel assessment as part of the hiring process.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling, variance analysis, and ad hoc reporting.
- Solid attention to detail and a consistent approach to maintaining data accuracy.
- Ability to commit to a one-year engagement in a Long-term Contract role.
- Comfortable working an on-site Monday through Thursday schedule in Indianapolis, Indiana.
