Job Description
We are seeking a highly hands-on Manufacturing Engineering Technician to support critical system builds and day-to-day manufacturing line execution for an advanced surgical robotics platform. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the production floor, responds quickly when issues arise, and takes pride in keeping builds moving safely, compliantly, and on schedule. Working under the direction of the Builds & Line Support manager, this position will partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Planning, Quality, Materials, technicians, and other cross-functional teams. The role will focus on rapid issue resolution, build readiness, material coordination, equipment and fixture availability, and disciplined execution so engineering resources can remain focused on verification and validation (V&V) and other critical development work.
- Provide hands-on floor support during engineering, development, verification, validation, and production builds to keep work moving safely and efficiently.
- Respond quickly to line interruptions and build blockers; assess the issue, coordinate immediate containment, and engage the appropriate Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Production, or technical owner.
- Support nonconformance (NC) activities, including containment, segregation, documentation, disposition coordination, and follow-through on assigned actions.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electromechanical, tooling, fixture, and process issues using approved procedures, drawings, work instructions, and engineering guidance.
- Support the creation and execution of approved rework instructions, deviations, or temporary build instructions in partnership with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality.
- Coordinate day-to-day build readiness and schedule execution with Production and Planning; identify risks early and escalate blockers with clear impact and urgency.
- Confirm material availability before builds, assist with material triage, and escalate shortages, incorrect parts, or kitting issues to the responsible teams.
- Support line moves, workstation adjustments, equipment placement, and other floor changes needed to execute planned builds.
- Confirm that required tools, fixtures, equipment, consumables, and calibrated instruments are available and ready for use; promptly escalate downtime or maintenance needs.
- Reinforce the current approved process revision and support technician training or retraining when work instructions or build requirements change.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in applicable manufacturing and quality systems, including build records, issue logs, and action tracking.
- Participate in daily stand-ups and build-readiness reviews; communicate status, risks, decisions needed, and unresolved actions clearly.
- Identify recurring floor issues and provide observations and data to Manufacturing Engineering and Quality for root-cause investigation and longer-term corrective action.
- Follow all safety, quality, compliance, and documentation requirements for a regulated medical-device manufacturing environment.
