We are looking for a detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to support export documentation and operational coordination for international shipments from Elgin, Illinois. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in global shipping paperwork, carrier communication, and compliance-focused record accuracy. The role will work closely with logistics and procurement partners to help ensure materials and shipments move efficiently across international markets, with a strong emphasis on Latin America and South America.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and organize export documents to support timely and compliant international shipments.
- Coordinate directly with ocean freight carriers and other logistics partners to arrange transportation and resolve shipping issues.
- Monitor shipment activity for destinations in Latin America, South America, and other international markets, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
- Support procurement operations by managing purchase order activity and assisting with day-to-day buying processes.
- Verify regulatory and customs-related paperwork with a high degree of precision to reduce delays and compliance risks.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to maintain alignment on shipment schedules, documentation status, and operational priorities.
- Use procurement and logistics software comparable to Atlas to track transactions, shipment details, and supporting records.
- Contribute to contract and supplier-related administrative activities that support ongoing procurement functions.
- Prior experience in export operations with a strong background in shipment documentation and carrier coordination.
- Hands-on knowledge of ocean freight processes and the requirements of international transportation providers.
- Proven ability to manage regulatory or customs documentation with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience supporting procurement activities such as purchase orders, buying workflows, or supplier coordination.
- Familiarity with international shipments to Latin America, South America, or similar regions.
- Food industry experience is helpful, and knowledge of tariff codes is considered an advantage.
- Proficiency with logistics or procurement systems similar to Atlas.
