Original job description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Seasonal part-time Dispatcher to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia in a Contract to Permanent position. Hours are 7am-12pm. 5 hours, 4 days/week, total of 20-30 hours a week. This role is best suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, desk-based logistics environment and can keep delivery operations running smoothly throughout the day. The Dispatcher will coordinate driver activity, support route execution, and help resolve service issues to maintain efficient daily performance.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily dispatch activity for a large group of delivery drivers, helping keep routes on schedule and operations organized.
- Use internal routing and tracking systems to build, update, and monitor delivery schedules throughout the shift.
- Support site readiness before departures by receiving inbound trucks, organizing package flow, and preparing routes for driver loadout.
- Assist drivers during loadout by managing check-in and check-out, answering delivery-related questions, and providing coaching on service standards and compliance.
- Monitor drivers while they are on the road, identify delivery issues, and escalate technical, payment, or policy-related concerns when needed.
- Review proof-of-delivery records and photos, identify missing or inaccurate documentation, and follow up to ensure issues are properly addressed.
- Reconcile undelivered or failed packages after routes are completed and help restore the workspace for the next operational cycle.
- Prepare clear end-of-shift updates and handoff notes so the next dispatch team has visibility into open items and operational risks.
- Provide hands-on support with package sorting during high-volume periods as business needs require.
- Experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, or transportation support within a fast-paced operation.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with drivers and internal teams.
- Familiarity with computer-based dispatch, routing, or shipment tracking systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities at once while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a desk-based operational role that requires continuous coordination and real-time problem solving.
- Capable of coaching drivers on process expectations, delivery best practices, and compliance standards.
- Willingness to assist with light operational tasks, including package sorting, during peak demand periods.
