Client: Financial Services/Wealth Management Organization Role: Controller (Interim to Hire) Pay Rate: $80/hr - $90/hr
Location: Cockeysville, Maryland - *4 days a week onsite - 1 day WFH*
Position Summary We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Controller to lead the financial operations of our growing wealth management firm. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- GDC & Advisor Compensation Management
- Oversee and manage the end-to-end Gross Dealer Concession (GDC) tracking, calculation, and reporting processes.
- Administer complex advisor payout grids, bonus structures, hurdle rates, and fee-sharing arrangements.
- Partner with operations and compliance to reconcile clearing firm statements (e.g., Pershing, Fidelity, LPL) and custodian data against internal GDC figures.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly/quarterly commission disbursements and resolve any advisor compensation inquiries.
- Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
- Manage the general ledger, month-end and year-end close processes, accounts payable/receivable, and cash management.
- Prepare accurate GAAP financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor firm profitability by advisor, branch, and product line, providing actionable insights to executive leadership.
- Regulatory Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with SEC, FINRA, and state regulatory financial requirements (including net capital rules where applicable).
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax preparers, and regulatory examiners.
- Maintain internal controls and financial policies tailored to a regulated financial services environment.
- Budgeting & Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with the CFO/executives to develop the annual operating budget and multi-year financial forecasts.
- Analyze variance reports and operational metrics to identify cost-saving opportunities and revenue optimization strategies.
