We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our team in Irvine, California on a contract basis for a 3-6 month assignment. This part-time, onsite opportunity is ideal for a payroll specialist who can step in quickly, manage payroll processing with accuracy, and support critical year-end activities. The role will focus on maintaining smooth payroll operations for a multi-group employee population while ensuring compliance with applicable payroll rules and deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Process recurring payroll cycles accurately for a workforce of approximately 160 employees across multiple pay groups, including both exempt and non-exempt staff.
- Review timecards, identify discrepancies, and partner with managers to resolve edits before payroll is finalized.
- Administer payroll activities using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring employee data and payroll records remain current and accurate.
- Support full-cycle payroll tasks from data review through final submission, with a strong emphasis on error prevention and timeliness.
- Handle year-end payroll responsibilities, including preparation and coordination of forms such as W-2s and 1095-Cs.
- Apply multi-state payroll knowledge to help maintain compliance with wage, tax, and reporting requirements.
- Assist with payroll-related inquiries and provide clear follow-up on pay, deductions, and processing questions.
- Contribute to consistent payroll operations during a high-volume period and adapt to occasional longer workdays when needed.
- Hands-on experience processing full-cycle payroll in a payroll clerk, payroll processor, or similar role.
- Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now and strong familiarity with payroll systems used for ongoing payroll administration.
- Knowledge of year-end payroll processes, including W-2 and 1095-C preparation requirements.
- Experience supporting multi-state payroll and understanding of related compliance considerations.
- Ability to manage biweekly and weekly payroll schedules with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and a track record of producing error-free payroll results.
- Comfortable working onsite in Irvine, California in a part-time contract assignment.
- Experience supporting payroll for larger employee populations is preferred.
