Original job description
We are looking for an experienced personal injury litigation attorney to manage a dynamic caseload in Denver, Colorado. This position is ideal for a lawyer who approaches each matter with ownership, sound judgment, and a clear strategy for moving cases toward the strongest possible outcome. You will guide files through litigation, evaluate when settlement is appropriate, and take cases to trial when doing so serves the client’s best interests. The role offers meaningful autonomy, strong internal support, and the opportunity to work remotely while handling substantial plaintiff-side matters. If you are qualified for this position, please send your resume for immediate consideration to amy.thomas@roberthalf[dot][com].
Responsibilities:
- Lead an active docket of personal injury litigation matters and direct each case with a thoughtful plan designed to achieve maximum client recovery.
- Oversee litigation from initial filings through final resolution, including pleadings, discovery, motions, hearings, and trial preparation.
- Draft, review, and respond to written discovery while conducting and defending depositions involving parties, experts, and corporate representatives.
- Analyze liability, damages, causation, insurance coverage, and case valuation to shape litigation strategy and recommend next steps.
- Engage and collaborate with medical and liability experts to strengthen evidentiary support and prepare cases for negotiation or trial.
- Counsel clients throughout the legal process, ensuring they are prepared for depositions, mediation, arbitration, and courtroom proceedings.
- Negotiate with defense counsel and insurance carriers, providing clear recommendations on settlement opportunities versus continued litigation.
- Coordinate closely with the pre-litigation team to assess inherited matters, identify development needs, and improve trial readiness.
- Maintain control of deadlines, filings, and case progression while working effectively with support staff in a remote environment.
- Active license to practice law in good standing in Colorado.
- At least 3 years of civil litigation experience, with plaintiff-side personal injury experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle motion practice, discovery, depositions, and case development with minimal supervision.
- Trial experience, arbitration experience, or a strong willingness to take appropriate matters through verdict.
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proven organizational skills and the ability to independently manage a substantial caseload with attention to detail.
- Comfort working collaboratively in a fully remote setting while maintaining responsiveness and accountability.
