We are looking for a skilled Paralegal to support a busy plaintiffs’ practice in Baltimore, Maryland. This role is suited to someone who can confidently oversee personal injury and civil litigation matters from initial intake through resolution while keeping cases organized and progressing efficiently. The position offers the chance to work closely with attorneys and clients, contribute to meaningful case outcomes, and play a central role in a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee a sizeable docket of personal injury and civil litigation files, guiding each matter from opening through settlement discussions or trial preparation with limited day-to-day oversight.
- Prepare a wide range of legal materials, including written correspondence, pleadings, discovery documents, subpoenas, and other case-related filings with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Gather, organize, and analyze supporting evidence such as treatment records, medical billing, wage documentation, and other materials used to establish damages.
- Monitor court calendars, filing deadlines, and scheduling requirements to help ensure matters remain compliant with procedural rules and case orders.
- Support attorneys in advance of depositions, mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and trial by assembling exhibits, summaries, and case materials.
- Maintain complete and well-organized case files while proactively advancing matters through each stage of litigation or pre-litigation handling.
- Assist with assessing claim value, assembling demand packages, and facilitating communication with insurance representatives during settlement efforts.
- Coordinate with expert witnesses, healthcare providers, clients, and other outside parties to obtain information and keep case activity moving forward.
- Handle electronic filing and related court submissions in both state and federal venues as required.
- At least 3 years of experience in personal injury, civil litigation, or a closely related paralegal role.
- Demonstrated ability to manage files independently and balance competing priorities in a high-volume legal setting.
- Practical knowledge of litigation workflow, discovery obligations, and court filing procedures.
- Experience drafting legal documents and communicating professionally with clients and external contacts.
- Strong organizational judgment, follow-through, and problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and legal case management systems.
- Background in plaintiffs’ personal injury matters, mediation or trial preparation, or damages review is valued.
- A paralegal certificate or relevant degree is preferred, though not required.
