We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support daily accounting operations for a manufacturing /distribution organization in Santa Fe Springs, California. This Contract position will play a key role in keeping payables, receivables, and banking activity accurate, organized, and up to date. The ideal candidate brings hands-on accounting support experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a busy environment with shifting priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accounts payable inbox, respond to incoming items promptly, and route documentation for timely action.
- Partner with internal teams to secure approvals for vendor invoices and employee expense submissions before processing.
- Enter and post accounts payable activity, including invoices and disbursements made through checks, wires, and other approved payment methods.
- Apply incoming customer payments to accounts receivable records with a high level of accuracy and within required deadlines.
- Maintain complete bank activity records and assist with reconciliations to ensure financial data aligns with account balances.
- Capture and document tariff-related charges in accordance with established accounting guidelines and company procedures.
- Provide broader accounting assistance as priorities shift, including support tied to operational or system-related changes.
- Help preserve accurate financial records by reviewing transactions for completeness, coding, and proper documentation.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and core accounting principles.
- Experience handling invoice coding, payment processing, cash posting, and bank reconciliations.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change over time.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to obtain approvals and resolve issues.
- Proficiency using accounting systems such as D365 or similar enterprise platforms.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality when working with financial information.
