Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Experience designing thermal system hardware, including coolant loops, refrigeration/heat pump systems, HVAC units, or heat exchangers. Background in EV thermal management systems supporting batteries, drive units, power electronics, and cabin climate control. Familiarity with refrigeration and HVAC system design. Experience with actuators, valves, and controls-integrated hardware. Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, engineering release processes, and change management for production parts.
Job Description
Own the mechanical design of thermal system hardware, translating performance and packaging requirements into manufacturable designs from concept through production release. Design components and assemblies across coolant, refrigeration, heat pump, and HVAC/climate subsystems using 3D CAD. Package and route thermal hardware throughout the vehicle, resolving space, clearance, and interface constraints with battery, drive unit, power electronics, chassis, body, and other vehicle systems. Convert thermal, hydraulic, and refrigerant system requirements into physical hardware designs, including flow paths, sealing strategies, mounting features, and heat exchanger integration. Develop designs optimized for manufacturing and assembly processes, including injection molding, brazing, stamping, extrusion, and machining. Apply GD&T principles, perform tolerance stack-up analyses, and establish critical dimensions to ensure fit, sealing, and functional performance. Support CFD, FEA, durability, and thermal analyses while utilizing DFMEA methodologies to identify and mitigate design risks. Create and release engineering drawings, maintain CAD models and BOMs, and manage engineering changes throughout the product lifecycle. Collaborate closely with systems engineers, controls engineers, test engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to support validation, design reviews, and production readiness.
