Pre-construction Manager - Commercial & Structural Concrete | Austin, TX | $160K-$180K Our client, a leading national concrete contractor, is seeking an experienced Pre-construction Manager to support continued growth throughout the Austin and Central Texas market. This is an opportunity to join a large-scale, self-performing concrete organization delivering complex projects across commercial, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, education, semiconductor, and data center markets. As a Pre-construction Manager, you will take a leadership role in identifying and pursuing new opportunities, developing bid strategies, overseeing estimates, building key client relationships, and ensuring projects are successfully transitioned from pre-construction into operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead pre-construction efforts for commercial and structural concrete projects throughout the Austin and Central Texas market
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities that align with the capabilities and capacity of the local business unit
- Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, and other key partners throughout the market
- Lead bid strategy and ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with project requirements
- Review project plans, specifications, scopes, schedules, and other bid documentation
- Oversee conceptual budgets, hard bids, negotiated work, and pre-construction pricing
- Evaluate labor, material, equipment, production rates, schedule requirements, and project risks
- Participate in client negotiations, proposal reviews, and project pursuit strategy
- Identify value engineering opportunities, scope gaps, and potential project risks
- Partner closely with operations teams to understand project requirements and customer expectations
- Manage the project turnover process from pre-construction through operations
- Help maintain a strong and sustainable backlog of work for the Austin business unit
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive experience in commercial construction with a large-scale, self-performing general contractor or concrete contractor
- Self-performing concrete experience required
- Strong background in pre-construction and estimating
- Experience developing bid strategies and reviewing complex concrete estimates
- Strong business development capabilities and knowledge of the commercial construction market
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, and other industry partners
- Broad project experience with an emphasis on commercial and industrial construction
- Strong understanding of concrete construction means and methods, sequencing, labor productivity, and constructibility
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents
- Strong organizational, negotiation, leadership, and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related construction/pre-construction technology
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
