Vaco Phoenix is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant for a top client in Tempe, AZ. This role will execute a variety of financial procedures, including month-end and year-end closings, accounts payable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations. This is a permanent position that is full onsite and paying up to 70k per year.
Job Duties Include:
- Perform weekly bookkeeping to ensure accurate monthly financial records, including account reconciliations and month-end close.
- Prepare adjusting journal entries under the direction of the Controller.
- Assist in preparing monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss (P&L) reports.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure financial accuracy.
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and respond to bank inquiries as needed.
- Assist with accounts payable by processing invoices and ensuring expenses are accurately coded to the appropriate accounts.
- Support inventory management and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation reports.
- Using Controller-approved templates, prepare financial reports analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to support forecasting and budgeting.
- Maintain current knowledge of accepted accounting principles, policies, and financial reporting practices.
The ideal candidate for this position:
- 3-4 years' experience in a staff accountant role or 1-2 years as a Senior Accountant
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel - vlookups, pivot tables, Word, and Outlook)
- Experience working with ERP systems
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and take ownership of work product
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
