Kristin Wasson is looking for an experienced purchasing leader to oversee procurement strategy and strengthen supply continuity for operations near Salem, Oregon. This role is responsible for guiding sourcing decisions, improving cost performance, and building reliable supplier partnerships that support production goals. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in procurement, sound commercial judgment, and the ability to lead teams while managing complex market conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the overall purchasing function, setting strategic direction that supports operational performance, cost control, and dependable material availability.
- Direct sourcing and procurement activities across key spend categories while overseeing supplier agreements and negotiations.
- Build and maintain strong vendor partnerships to improve service levels, reduce risk, and create long-term supply chain resilience.
- Analyze market conditions, commodity trends, and supplier performance to inform buying strategies and protect business continuity.
- Establish disciplined contract management, purchase order oversight, and procurement controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and financial accountability.
- Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing, supplier optimization, and process improvement efforts.
- Lead, mentor, and develop purchasing team members, creating clear expectations and strengthening overall department capability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Finance, or a related discipline.
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in purchasing, sourcing, procurement, or supply chain leadership.
- Strong understanding of material flow and supplier coordination.
- Experience managing large purchasing budgets.
- Advanced capability in supplier negotiations, contract administration, and vendor relationship management.
- Working knowledge of procurement systems, purchase order processes, budgeting practices, and financial controls.
- Demonstrated success leading sourcing strategies that deliver measurable savings and operational value.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing purchasing, procurement, or supply chain teams with strong communication and analytical skills.
