We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Clerk to support complex reconciliation and posting activity for provider-level balance adjustments. This Contract position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records by handling advanced accounts receivable transactions, investigating variances, and coordinating with internal partners and external payers. The role requires strong judgment, careful analysis, and the ability to manage high-volume work with consistency in a largely independent but collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Reconcile daily financial activity for multiple facilities by comparing account information against host system records and resolving any differences promptly.
- Maintain and update Excel-based tracking tools to record posting activity, verify transaction details, and support accurate balance reporting for forwarding balance accounts.
- Research complex payer adjustments that affect multiple remittances and patient accounts, then determine the appropriate action to ensure correct account treatment.
- Perform balancing work for cross-facility commercial transactions, confirming that financial activity is aligned across systems and correcting exceptions when needed.
- Enter and validate transaction data in assigned financial tools and spreadsheets, ensuring coding, documentation, and posting details meet established standards.
- Partner with internal teams and contact payers as necessary to investigate unusual offsets, clarify adjustment behavior, and resolve outstanding discrepancies.
- Support weekly and month-end reconciliation efforts, including occasional Saturday coverage when business needs require additional closing support.
- Monitor compliance with internal procedures and financial controls to reduce posting errors, minimize risk, and protect reporting accuracy.
- Experience in accounts receivable, payment posting, or financial reconciliation within a healthcare or high-volume transactional environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to manage spreadsheets used for balancing, tracking, and audit support.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate discrepancies, interpret adjustment activity, and resolve complex account issues with accuracy.
- Strong data entry skills with close attention to detail and a consistent focus on documentation quality.
- Working knowledge of accounts receivable procedures, compliance expectations, and financial control practices.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with internal stakeholders and external payers.
- Ability to work independently, organize competing priorities, and meet daily, weekly, and month-end deadlines.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday with occasional mandatory Saturday support based on business needs.
