Construction Controller:
We are looking for a highly-motivated individual in Scottsdale to join our accounting team as Construction Controller. The successful candidate will have previous experience as a Controller and managing a team across several states/sites. The candidate should have good operational accounting experience, worked in a large ERP environment, SAP preferred, good accounting knowledge and proven history of driving process improvements. The team is responsible for construction, manufacturing and general accounting for the US operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Creation and analysis of US accounting including but not limited to construction, cash, accruals, prepaids fixed assets and US operational expenses.
- Support an accurate and timely month end close within the corporate deadlines for all US accounting
- Review and provide variance analytics on all US activities to corporate and management including construction and manufacturing
- Ensure all accruals for US entities are calculated accurately and posted appropriately each month
- Review account reconciliations in accordance with policy
- As required, review, create and post journal entries with supporting documentation in accordance with company policies
- Establish solid partnership with relevant business partners
- Professionally challenge existing processes with a focus on efficiency and scalability
- As part of scalability, identify processes and manage the transition to Pune shared service center
- Establish strong partnerships with all extended teams in Menlo Park, Seattle, New Jersey, Dallas as well as other Katerra offices
- Provide timely and detailed audit support, as required
- Provide timely support and guidance to all ad hoc corporate
Required Skills & Experience
- 15+ years senior level accounting experience in the construction industry.
- Experience in general ledger accounting such as cash, fixed assets, other accruals, prepaids, opex and revenue
- Ability to work as part of an extended and dispersed team
- Experience of working in the architecture/engineering/construction Industry and/or manufacturing
- Solid working knowledge of Excel a must
- Experience working in an ERP environment. SAP preferred.
- Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized – critical skill
- Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated
- Experience of developing a team as well as individuals
